Tune Up. Turn Up.

Instant chromatic tuning for guitar, baritone and bass. Dead Accurate!

It listens through the microphone, reads your pitch in real time, and the audio never leaves the phone. Nothing is recorded, nothing is stored.

The Iron Ear fretboard drill on an A Pentatonic Minor full scale run, position 1.

Own the Fretboard

Every note. Every key. Every position.

The full neck for guitar, baritone and bass: note map, scale positions, shape boxes and three-notes-per-string patterns. Practice drills run at your tempo, in either direction, on a loop.

Every dot is tappable, and every tap sounds a real plucked string.

The Iron Ear Notes trainer on Easy, with E lit on the keyboard and marked Correct.

Hear Like a Riff Lord

Train your ears. Trust your instincts.

  • Notes: hear a pitch, name it.
  • Intervals: hear two notes, name the distance.
  • Chords: hear a chord, name its quality.

Each runs easy, medium or hard. Chords adds an expert tier and any question can be replayed as many times as you need. Streaks and stats build up as you go, and they stay on the device.

The Iron Ear chord library on E Dominant 7th, shape 1 of 6, with the chord tones marked on the fretboard.

Summon Massive Chords

29 chord types. Every key. Every voicing.

A searchable chord library with playable diagrams, plus quick-pick shapes for the ones you reach for constantly.

Build mode works the other way round: put your fingers on the fretboard and Iron Ear tells you what you just played.

The Iron Ear circle of fifths centred on C major, with A minor as its relative minor.

Learn the Rules. Break Them.

The Circle of Fifths, Nashville Numbers and progressions you’ll actually use.

An interactive wheel for keys, relative minors and key signature, the map that makes the rest of it click.

Tap a progression: I–IV–V and other Nashville-number rows and hear it played back in whichever key you land on.

The Iron Ear metronome playing at 120 BPM in 4/4, quarter-note clicks, with the Pluck sound.

Keep Time. Stay Tight.

30 to 300 BPM, in your ears and in your hand.

  • Time: eight signatures, from 1/4 to 12/8.
  • Clicks: quarter, eighth, triplet or sixteenth.
  • Sounds: eleven clicks, plus Silent.
  • Tap tempo: tap the big number in time.

A haptic beat you can feel in your hand. Start it and go work in any other tab. It keeps clicking, even under the lock screen.

New in 1.3

Fresh Off the Bench

Two new tricks on the Circle of Fifths, and a metronome that comes with you.

  • Your Progression with C, G, Am, F and B flat entered, read as C major with B flat marked as borrowed from C minor.

Your Progression. Tap in your chords, Iron Ear names the key and marks the borrowed ones.

  • The circle of fifths centred on C major, with the Spin button on the wheel.

Spin. Spin the wheel to land on a key.

  • The Iron Ear fretboard note map, with the metronome tab dot lit while the click keeps time.

Always on. The click keeps going while you work in the other tabs.

Privacy

Everything you do stays on this device

This isn’t a promise not to sell your data. There is nothing to sell: Iron Ear has no networking code in it at all. It never opens a connection, so nothing can leave your phone even by accident.

  • No account, no sign-in, no email address to hand over.
  • No analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no third-party SDKs.
  • Scores, streaks and settings are written to your device and stay there.
  • Delete the app and that data goes with it. There is no copy anywhere else.
  • Every screen works in airplane mode, because that is the only mode it has.
